The Florence Institute for the History of Art in Florenz
The Florence Institute for the History of Art is an institute of the Max Planck Society for the Support of the Sciences.
It was founded by a group of interested art historians in 1897 as a private institution and is devoted to scientific research into Italian art. It performs its own scientific projects for this purpose and makes its facilities available to its members and other qualified art historians from all countries for their own research projects.
The Institute's activities include the regular organisation of lectures, colloquia and scientific congresses, the publication of Communications of the Florence Institute for the History of Art and of various series of scientific publications and individual volumes. A study course is offered each year for doctoral students and young postdoctoral scientists from different universities in German speaking countries.
Additional information can be found on the Institute's homepage.
Apart from the international meetings - often with participants from different disciplines - public lectures and colloquia on Italian art are regularly held at the Florence Institute for the History of Art.
Information on current events can be found on the Institute's homepage
